Due today was your introduction. You self-edited and peer-edited and at this point, you should be comfortable with an interesting and strong introduction to your idea. Remember: Question +Opinion.

Alrighty- for tomorrow:
1. Finish your persuasive writing map outline For each reason, have 2 examples/facts Include at least one counter argument 2. Write your introduction. It should be 3-4 sentences with one of the questions you created in class. Okay class: three more Language Arts lessons until Spring Break (yippee!) **cue cheers of joy for those who are confident they can finish their projects in time** **cue tears of grief for those who KNOW they have a lot to do yet** Our tracking sheet is up on the board! So far, only two students have completed 3 of the 7 parts of this assignment. Tomorrow's work block should be useful. If you feel overwhelmed, chunk (break apart into pieces) your work. Focus on one project until it is complete and then move on. Grammar: Complete your 5 sentences with the more advanced action verbs we wrote down during class time.
Until Spring Break (insert squeals of delight here), we will be working on Grammar and Independent Novel Projects.
Make sure you bring your novel every day to school and your Project Outline! For tomorrow (Wednesday):
For those who have lost their vocabulary pages, the following list contains the four lessons, including rules and vocabulary words. Your vocab quiz is on Tuesday, so study on the weekend. You will be quizzed on understanding the meaning of the words, the rules, and your application of the vocab in sentences that show the meaning of the word.
Lesson 1: Short Vowel Spellings
Hello Twelves and Thirteens (even though that isn't a label in the community),
Tomorrow, you'll have a work block to make your Book of Memories beautiful. Come prepared with the things you need to do that! We will continue our discussion on Giver themes on Friday. Come prepared Friday with a quotation from the Giver on the topics of: Choice and Sameness vs. Diversity Okay, grade 7:
I hope today's peer editing proved useful! Look at your work with fresh eyes and try to see your work humbly.
NOTICE: Bring your current English book to class tomorrow! We will have some silent reading time. Thursday: Bring everything you need to work on your Book of Memories (so if you typed them up, bring them in advance and bring them to school!) Friday: Book of Memories due Next Tuesday (Feb 28th): you will have a vocab test on the following vocab lessons:
Study and try creating sentences. Ask me for help if you are confused about a particular word! For Language Arts this week, we will not have a vocab test. Instead, we have focused on The Giver and have started our new project: Book of Memories.
Every has been given the Project Outline and Rubric.
It is important that your parents are aware of your major projects. This is not a project you can complete the night before it is due. Spread out your work time. Suggested Schedule: Today: you should complete Memory #1 rough draft by Friday: you should have Memory 1 & 2 Final copies completed (meaning... they have been edited) Over the weekend: two more rough drafts completed Monday work block: edit Memory 3 +4 rough drafts By next Wednesday: all five Memories should be completed By next Friday: make it look good :) The above schedule is just a suggestion. You know your work load and your style of work best. If you want to focus on all the rough drafts and then edit them all later, that would be another fine decision. Please have all your writing completed by next Wednesday so you can have time to put papers and illustrations in your book. Work hard everyone. I look forward to seeing your projects develop and the final product! Task for the weekend: Finish The Giver and answer questions for ch.21-23. Be prepared to discuss and have assignments about the story. Happy weekend!
Good job today; you finished the reading comprehension and short writing assignment.
While the FSA is not included in your letter grade, I am glad you worked hard because this does show us how you are doing according to Grade 7 standards across BC. Thursday is our odd day, so I will not see you for LA, and because of Eddy's birthday (yay), we will not be having Social Studies either. Therefore, before Eddy's birthday, we will go over the answers of the VOCAB Lesson 11 pages. Have these completed, and be prepared to ask clarifying questions... Vocab quiz Friday! |
